Can you buy a noble title?

Sure but it is not a real title of Nobility. It is more like a title of novelty rather than nobility. So yes you can buy a fooey title anywhere but it make you no more noble than the Foo King and I are royalty.

Most sites will tell you that you can change your name to gain new found respect and impress those around you. When you change your name in the courts you can then put Lord, Duke, Marquis, etc on your drivers license, credit cards and other important legal documents. Most states (cough- except New Mexico) make you provide proof of nobility by Letter Patent not Title Registrars. If you cannot provide proof of nobility most states (cough- except New Mexico) insist you claim "Theatrical Reasons" for the name change.
